Eleven Minutes: Paulo Coehlo

"Reading is nourishment for the soul."

We study and mug to raise our intellect and train hard to raise our physical and mental strength. But reading is for our souls. It gets us in touch with ourselves. It shows us that there are great things out there, that certain things we only dream of, are actually real. That there is a deeper meaning to life. Such things we seldom get from daily conversation (thou we do get it from the right people). So we should all be reading.

I just finished reading my recent book, Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coehlo. It was a book well written, touching on the sensitive of sex from a prostitute’s point of view. Reading the book was nice because I was able to relate with the many things mentioned in the book-about life, love and being away from home. Maria, from the interior of Brazil, goes to seek her fortune in Switzerland, only to find that reality is harsher than she expected and she ends up working in a brothel on Rue du Berne, the heart of Geneva's red-light district. The book deals with issues surrounding sex and sexuality, such as prostitution, sacred sex, and sex in the context of love.

•The person who loves wholeheartedly feels free.

•When we meet someone and fall in love, we have a sense that the universe is on our side.

•Our soul needs food-LOVE.

•Passion sends us signals that guide us through our lives and it is up to us to interpret those signs.

•If you live your life intensely (I do), you experience pleasure all the time and don’t feel the need for sex. When you have sex, it’s out of a sense of abundance.

I started another book by the same author in German! So far so good. Can understand pretty well. Quite proud of myself. One of my biggest achievements! But i gave up after 2 days.. I cant get the full picture and direction of the book in German.. Oh well...
