Journey Around the World: January 2010

Chiang Mai

It was nice meeting up with erik and hans today!

OH! And guess wad. My sis is pregnant! Gonna be a REAL Auntie in August=) Am really excited.

Delayed post in Chiang Mai:
We were greeted by nic's mum's good fren in Chiang mai the moment we touched down. It was a surprise. We did not expect that. Kun Chat brought us to 4 seasons Chiang Mai, and it is one of the most amazing resort I have ever seen. 15km out of city in a fortress of green, a swimming pool among padi fields and 3 staff to 1 guest.

This Swimming Pool faces padi fields and heaps of nature! Imagine being so close to nature. Chat's influence and connections led us to having a tour of the complex, the 2nd best SPA in the world, and 3000USD a night villas. It was amazing. Absolutely amazing. And all along, everything was so highly desirable. And all sort of thoughts and scenarios were played out of me spending time here. Like imagine working here, or imagine forking out 1000 bucks to stay here for 3 nights or even building a house that copies the designs of the villa=) I am gonna have a nice house in some small town in Europe next time. Plenty of space and quiet.

The Cafe that Kun Chat runs-The Ginger Cafe. The design is a nice hybride of English and Chinese. It was amazing how much time we spent slacking, relaxing and reading here. And not to mention all the great food that we ate for free!

The Ginger Cafe serves Latte in its most traditional style-Latte in a bowl. It is a dream come true for coffee lovers, with such huge portion of coffee that one could just indulge in. Awww...

A view of Sunset and the night markets. The night markets were awesome!

How do you liek out cool spects =) They help to keep of the dust on the bike as well=) Big and good.

Totally reflects the mood in Chiang Mai. Slow and easy. Relax.

I caught the lights in the water. Improved Photography skills eh!

On the way back. Met a German lady who stays in Australia. German came to use=) Nice conversations. But started too late. Well, late is better than never=)

Looking forward to going out of the cities, through north Thailand on our bike tour in December=)

The desire to learn Korean came to late. Missed the bidding round and the classes are full. High bidding points wont be a problem-coz I am "rich" and graduating. sigh.

It would really be ideal to learn Korean and stop German for this sem. Attending German classes doesnt help as much to improve anymore. I really wanna learn another language. Crossing fingers that my appeal will go through when someone gives up the seat at Korean 1.

Sydney

Yihan will love this photo.
It is an Xmas tree made from plastic drink bottles that will later be recycled.

A tour of the city by the professional guides =)

A day at the zoo. Family outing. Taronga Zoo was super huge.

Some cute animals. Koalas are actually quite useless. They sleep 20 hours a day, wake up and chew on toxic eucalyptus leaves. Baby koalas need to swallow some POO from fellow koalas before consuming the leaves or else they would die from the toxic.

Maruba Beach. Sunny and clear Blue.

Our heavenly accommodation @ the Blue Mountains, 2 hours west of Sydney with our rented luxury car. We were so close to nature and the house was nicely decorated with a Jacuzzi. We had a bubble dip.

A view from some lookout.

Panoramic view and the 3 sisters. Nice but overrated.

A sunrise that I narrowly missed. Watched it for 2 sec and went back to bed.

A unique shop in one of the tiny towns. I loved the shops in Leura. So unique.

Our long windy drive to the Jenolan caves. Nic and I have seen caves in Germany and NZ and decided to explore the FREE areas near the caves, while my parents and sis went for the guided tour. There were heaps of walking trials but we were not properly attired and my parents and sis wont be interested. Would have done it if we were with nara, sara and ben=)

The cave had stuff that looked like lobster(right). hehe... Managed to meet up with Sara and ben twice in Sydney. It was good=) Nara had to leave for the US. See him next time.
